professional supervision and at-home applications. While
in the office, your dentist will assess your whitening
needs and create a custom-fitted tray or mouthpiece
for at-home applications using a professional whitening
gel. |
Dental-office, light-activated whitening, also known
as Zoom or Chairside bleaching, is an in-office procedure
using a whitening agent and laser or special light.
Your dentist can usually complete the procedure in about
one hour, though one or two additional applications
may be required. In some cases, an at-home whitening
treatment may be recommended as a follow-up to the procedure. |

Paint on each tooth twice per day for 14 days. |
Peel off the backing and apply a flexible strip to your
upper teeth for 30 minutes, twice a day, for 14 days.
Once you've whitened your upper teeth, start again with
another package of 28 strips for your lower teeth. Results
should last for at least 6 months. |
Whitening toothpaste contains polishing or chemical
agents that improve tooth appearance through gentle
buffing or other non-bleaching actions. If you have
a whitening treatment, you should use a whitening toothpaste,
such as Supersmile, to help keep your smile bright. |
The 8% Hydrogen Peroxide (24% Carbamide equivalent)
whitening agent is applied in the customized tray
for 1/2 hr twice daily. The results are noticeable
in two - three days and lasts up to two years.
The B'Dazzled Teeth Whitening System contains no
acid or abrasives that can be harmful to the enamel.
|
You sit with the LED light for 15-20 minutes for one to two sessions with the light shining on your mouthguard full of gel. The gel is 10% Hydrogen peroxide or even up to 35% Carbamide.
|
A custom tray applicator, which is usually made from
an impression of your teeth, will be created for you
in the dental office. At home, you'll apply a thin layer
of whitening paste or gel into the tray, as directed.
Insert the tray, and the whitener will spread over your
teeth for uniform coverage. Use the product 30 minutes
once or twice a day for 14 days, or overnight for 3
- 5 days. Wear as directed by your dentist for best
results. |
Your dentist will apply either a barrier gel to your
gums or a rubber shield to protect soft oral tissues.
Then, zoom whitening agent is applied to your teeth.
The light is concentrated on your teeth for three 20miniute
sessions to speed up the action of the whitening gel. |

This product is 6.0%. Carbamide Peroxide (2% Hydrogen
Peroxide equivalent).Naturally, because of the low percentage,
it takes longer to achieve results.Contains Citric Acid
which may make the teeth appear frosty and as with all
peroxide based whiteners ,may cause sensitivity |
Flexible whitening strips may be somewhat more expensive
than other store-purchased methods. The home version
is only 5.3% hydrogen peroxide. These strips only cover
the front 6 teeth as opposed to customized trays which
give you full and complete coverage. |
Some toothpastes have a very low pH level which can
over time wear away the enamel. |
These mouthguards shrink to your teeth after you heat
them in hot water, and bite into. The plastic shrinks
as it cools to customize to your teeth for an instant
fit. These trays keep the whitening gel in better contact
with the surface of the teeth. Peroxide-based whitening
can cause temporary sensitivity to your teeth and gums.
|
Be careful of these systems, the staff are not hygienists or dentists and have no proper infection control training or dental training.
The results from this method are mostly dehydration of the teeth from the light which is not proven to aid in whitening at all and will only last a short period of time.
NB: These gels may leave your teeth in worse condition than before whitening due to high acidity levels once the gel is oxidised.

Professional whitening paste or gel contains 10 - 22%
of either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Your
dentist will recommend the appropriate formula for you.
As with other peroxide-based whitening products, some
people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity.
|
This is the fastest whitening method. It is also the
most expensive. The whitening agent is a very high (32%)
concentration of hydrogen peroxide. As with other peroxide-based
whitening products, some people may experience temporary
tooth sensitivity. |
